The automat meets the vinotheque at Vinum Populi, a high-tech wine bar and restaurant in Culver City. Load a debit card ($10 minimum), and take your pick of any of four dozen wines inside the automated wine-dispensing machines. One ounce pours range from under a dollar to more than $25, with bottles valued from $15 to $500. With four Enomatic machines, there's no waiting, just plenty of choices, with selections from California, Italy, France, Spain and South Africa---and tasting notes on each bottle. Whether you like beefy reds from Napa or delicate whites from Alsace, Vinum Populi has something to please your palate. There’s also wine-friendly food, including an assortment of salume, panini and cheeses, not to mention a convivial atmosphere.
