White Wasabi Sushi + Beer Restaurant Review

: Socked away in a strip mall across from the Long Beach Marina, this cozy, unassuming venue personifies the unwritten rule that sushi joints in shopping centers tend to be legit. Guests like to gather here for happy hour, order up a saké or craft beer, and watch the chefs create classic, clean-tasting nigiri and inventive rolls. Starters like the spicy edamame and the poke wonton tacos demonstrate that they aren’t afraid to bring the heat. Unique bites such as the salmon with a nutty “wasachio” sauce, and prosciutto and goat cheese shrimp roll, showcase European influences. The long list of rolls features plenty of familiar items infused with intriguing, flavorful touches, such as the spicy tuna roll topped with baby scallop tempura. For dessert, handmade ice cream and sorbet flavors like salted caramel and yuzu should not be missed.
