WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT WUNDERBAR HAS CLOSED. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED BY THE BRASSERIE. The latest creation of one of LA's favorite chefs and restaurateurs, Hans Röckenwagner, this casual wine bar and bistro is sure to become the place to be in Santa Monica. A chalkboard lists an ever-changing menu of tapas-sized dishes designed to enhance the wine selection, like eggplant tapénade, tempura green beans and a lobster-grilled cheese sandwich. Although every dish on the menu is of the same quality found in Röckenwagner's formal dining room, the gastronomic focus at WunderBAR is the wine. Featuring a selection of over thirty wines by the glass, WunderBAR offers oenophiles a chance to try styles like Gruner Veltliner and Muscato d'Asti, rarely seen on Los Angeles wine lists. The restaurant also offers mix and match flights of three wines, served on a special, backlit wooden tray of chef Röckenwagner's own design.
