THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Yashima Restaurant Review:
This Westside eaterys first foray into the San Gabriel Valley results in a smart looking contemporary restaurant next door to massive Ocean Star Seafood, SoCals largest dim sum palace. The airy, clean-lined dining room boasts blond wood finishes, spirited accent colors and bold modern art. A young crowd appreciates Yashimas competitive prices on assorted sushi and sashimi plates, outstanding salads (e.g. albacore with miso dressing, soft shell crab with a creamy ginger-sesame dressing, salmon skin with ponzu sauce) and quality bento boxes. Specialties include excellent grilled mussels with miso dressing, grilled black cod and steamed Chilean sea bass. The extensive menu covers the bases with teriyaki, curries, lots of noodles and even some unexpected desserts. Also located at 11301 Olympic Blvd., West L.A., 310-473-5297.
