Govino Wine Glass - Review

Shake It, But Don't Break It

govino go anywhere wine glasses are perfect for al fresco dining

Drinking wine in the great outdoors is fun, but sipping it from a cheap plastic cup? Not so much. That's why we've become fans of the govino go anywhere wine glass. It's not crystal stemware but a super clear, BPA-free (brownie points in the safety department!) polymer, which its makers claim makes wine look and smell just as it would in the real deal.

We can attest that a nicely chilled Chard on a hot summer day does indeed taste better in govino glasses, but this may be due to the fact that they, with their cool shape and ergonomic thumb notch, are just so much more stylish than the average plastic cups you encounter at picnics, pool parties and other affairs that call for unbreakable containers. And this is the main selling point: govino go anywhere wine glasses do not shatter when you drop them.

Another one is the fact that you can reuse them, and often. This brings us to the only downer: as fans of all things green, we love the idea of washing and reusing "plastic" cups, but govino products are not 100 per cent dishwasher safe.

This means hand washing, which can be very tedious when you have to clean up after a party, and also because they dry leaving water spots, which makes them no longer so crystal clear. And "polishing" polymer? That just seems wrong.

Price: $12.95 per 4-pack; champagne flutes available at the same price
