Profile: Founded by Champagne house Moët et Chandon in 1973, Domaine Chandon grows just three varietals in three appellations: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay in Yountville, Carneros and Mount Veeder. Although best known for the quality of its sparkling wines, Domaine Chandon also makes a small number of highly-acclaimed still wines. Visitors to the winery can tour, taste and dine at one of California's finest restaurants, étoile.
An elegant, medium-bodied wine, the 2010 Carneros Pinot Noir features aromas and flavors of damson plum, dark cherry and bright boysenberry. Silky tannins in the mouth are complemented by hints of tobacco and smoke.
