: Dark wood, leather seating, plush carpeting, walls lined with vintage wine bottles and a soaring bi-level space provide the backdrop for this Financial District steakhouse. Suit-up types and tourists alike gravitate here for nice steaks, fresh seafood and an extensive wine list with affordable new- and old-world selections. The professional service nearly outshines the Prime cuts of beef and lamb. Start with the meaty lobster and crab cakes, very lightly breaded and served with a refreshing, tangy Southwest-style salsa. The 24-ounce porterhouse was slightly over-seared at the edges but otherwise substantial and hearty. The flavor of the tender lamb chops was nicely balanced by a concentrated, slightly sweet marinade. Complement the meat dishes with one of the California Cabernet Sauvignons or French Côte du Rhônes. |
