Pig and Khao Restaurant Review

: Chef Leah Cohen, a “Top Chef” alum, cooks up Southeast Asian-inspired fare at this Lower East Side eatery. As the name suggests, pork gets prominent placement on a menu dominated by small plates (with a few larger ones thrown in for good measure). Khao soi, a red curry coconut soup bobbing with chicken, mustard greens and cilantro, packs a flavorful punch, as do the grilled lamb ribs, which are laden with curry. Adventurous eaters shouldn’t shy away from the tasty sisig, a bowl full of pork head, liver and chili peppers, all centered around a poached egg. The wine- and beer-based cocktail list is creative; however, opt for the beer-and-sangrita michelada rimmed with Thai chili salt.
