Larkmead is a truly historic vineyard, dating back to 1895. One of the very finest vineyards in Napa Valley, Larkmead has been in the same family hands since 1948. This steadiness has allowed for the type of careful study that is necessary to truly unlock a vineyard’s potential. Since the beginning of their modern winemaking history in 1997, they have been relentlessly fine-tuning their viticultural and cellar techniques to most accurately express the vineyard’s voice.

Historically, their Firebelle Estate Red Blend has been a marriage of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. For this vintage, Cabernet Franc has been included, which brings the varietal’s signature vibrant ruby color, bramble berry notes, and herbal freshness to the blend.

This dark ruby red wine offers a nose of black berries, spices and cigar box. The full-bodied flavor profile is marked by ripe red berries, dried herbs, refined tannins and vivid acidity leading to a generous, complex aftertaste expressing the three grape varietals.

Baldacci Family Vineyards is located in a beautiful part of the Napa Valley just off of the Silverado Trail (west side) slightly south of the Yountville Cross Road. Records show the property was originally planted with grapevines in 1888; it was purchased by Tom & Brenda Baldacci in 1998. For approximately six years, the family sold grapes, including to notable producers such as Rombauer, Shafer Vineyards and Clos du Val. Eventually, Tom decided to build a winery rather than selling the property. Perhaps his family heritage had something to do with his decision, being the grandson of Italian immigrants who made their own wine.

A deep garnet color shows in the glass. The bouquet draws you in with scents of fresh berries, spices and a touch of oak. These impressions repeat on the palate, helped by soft tannins to deliver a round and balanced, ready to drink wine.

Winemaking and beekeeping go hand in hand at the Jean-Luc Colombo estate in the heart of Rhône, France. Harvesting grapes and honey began with the acquisition of their first plot of vines in “Les Ruchets” (The Beehives in French) in 1987. Over the years, the winery has committed its resources to ensure the longevity of its colonies. Investing in education, eliminating the use of harsh pesticides, and planting nutritious flora allowed the bees to create a fruitful and biodiverse landscape that contributes to the health of their grapes and terroir.

Witnessing a depletion in the bees’ local and global population due to environmental factors and Colony Collapse Disorder, which threatens bees’ crucial role in agriculture, the Colombo family was compelled to spring into action. Together with their U.S. importer Taub Family Selections, they married two great passions—winemaking and beekeeping—to develop the Bee Helpful Program.

For every purchase of a bottle of Jean-Luc Colombo’s Les Abeilles (The Bees in French) Côtes-du-Rhône white or red, a donation is made to the UC Davis Department of Entomology in support of their research to help restore healthy honeybee colonies.

This light-yellow colored blend reveals notes of Meyer lemon, stone fruit and pear on the nose. The palate is well-balanced with juicy acidity and a lingering finish.
