| Park Slope has scores of family-friendly restaurants for its stroller-pushing residents, but the 12th Street Bar & Grill raises the bar with more ambitious seafood-heavy cuisine and a romantic and cozy, candlelit ambience. Start with faves such as P.E.I. mussels, Chesapeake Bay jumbo lump crab cakes set in a cilantro aïoli or wonderfully plump Blue Point oysters with a light panko crust and a horseradish cream sauce. The menu moves on to heartier fish dishes including salmon with wild mushroom dumplings and pecan-crusted catfish, each served with a vegetable side. Non-seafood fans may opt for the stuffed pork tenderloin, the Moroccan spiced lamb, or the French cut chicken breast, served over garlic mashed potatoes and hand-cut roasted carrots with a lemon-thyme jus. Specials are featured nightly taking advantage of current market produce and seafood offerings. A nice selection of wines by the glass is available. There’s a $22 prix-fixe dinner on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and brunch is served on the weekends. |
