 Set in a three-story brownstone in the über-hip, ultra-scene-y Meatpacking District, 5 Ninth was, for about five years, a bastion of high-quality cuisine in an area where style far outweighs substance. Chef Zak Pelaccio’s worldly, market-driven menu wowed foodies, but Pelaccio left in 2007 and a succession of chefs have come and gone since then.
