This Meatpacking District restaurant was once the cool kid of the neighborhood. But Zak Pelaccio moved on and both sides never really recovered. Pelaccio has his Fatty Crab mini empire and 5 Ninth has seen a few different chefs. The menu now is strictly Nouveau American and it does a decent job, serving up nicely presented fare like Hudson Valley duck, tender leg of lamb in a fennel confit, and prosciutto-wrapped monkfish. There are decently priced house cocktails and a long wine list to accompany the edible offerings.
