THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Acabar Restaurant Review:

The team of The Little Door is behind this glamorous makeover of the 3,500-square-foot restaurant and lounge that once housed Dar Maghreb. They have preserved the former spot’s distinctive Moroccan style while updating it with open spaces, artistic detailing and sexy lighting. Think Rolling Stones in Marrakech, remixed. One can enjoy the luxurious lounge or spacious bar (perhaps at a tabletop fire pit strewn with rose petals beneath the open-air dome). Mixologists Josh Goldman (Brilliantshine, ink.) and Julian Cox (Brilliantshine, Bestia) bring on a list of cocktails by historical eras dating back to 1632. There’s a raw bar, too. They have hired Octavio Becerra (Palate Food + Wine), backed up by chef de cuisine Kevin Luzande, to create dishes small and large, tracing the French colonial spice trail through North Africa, Southeast Asia and the Mediterranean. Savory bites include harissa-spiced skewered prawns, steamed buns filled up with crispy pork belly, roasted sunchokes topped with melted raclette cheese, and forged mushrooms dumplings. Among several larger offerings, try the whole crispy sea bass graciously accompanied with choy sum, tendrils and peanuts, to be seasoned with a Sichuan peppercorn sauce. For dessert you’ll find options like African basil panna cotta with citrus and pomegranate salad. Passionate and personable sommelier Emmanuel Faure has assembled a nice wine list --- don’t miss his recommendations, which profoundly add to the experience.
