Agapes Restaurant Review

: Set in a rustic inn near the Jardin des Plantes, Frederic Naulleau’s traditional French restaurant embraces gastronomic techniques, serving menu items like Burgundy snails with fat streaky bacon, bream fillets in a Parmigiano and herb crust, and melting ox cheek bound with foie gras. For dessert, the chef offers creamy milk rice, milk caramel and lukewarm brioche. Mrs. Naulleau heads the reception behind the bar and warmly welcomes patrons. However, the service could be more diligent. The wine list is rather terse and the prices are reasonable. Most vintages are served by 25 ounce, 13 ounce and five ounce. Lunch menu at €20.

Refined Comfort Food in a Convivial Space
by awata on Tue Nov 02, 2010 9:43 pm
We were a group of 4 - two locals and two from the States who dine at this address once or twice a year. The braised beef cheeks (joue de boeuf) are extraordinary! Intense flavors - the best kind of comfort food. Chef and owner Fred Naulleau is a graduate of Michelin 2-star Apicius. The dining room was recently refurbished - contemporary, brighter lighting, and very comfortable chairs! The 30 euros menu is a steal for 3 courses of traditional French cuisine.
