The décor: This bright, modern corner space sees a lively Silver Lake crowd for the coffee-fueled breakfast hour and sunny casual lunches. White walls and streamlined wooden furniture make the intimate seating seem more spacious. The patio on Sunset is a prime people-watching perch and ideal for cocktails, and it’s also less noisy than the high decibel level in the dining room.

Likes: Hip vibe, friendly service, tempting biscuits.
Dislikes: Poor acoustics and loud music inside make it hard to converse.

Food & Drinks: Elevated American fare jump starts an eclectic breakfast-all-day menu featuring popular biscuit sandwiches, a smoked white fish plate, and chicken fried skirt steak with country gravy. We like the unique shrimp and grits with a rich and flavorful Bolognese, fried egg and crispy leeks. Also consider the smoked pork loin baguette dip, a pleasing cross between a traditional French dip and banh mi outfitted with crunchy daikon pickle, cilantro and jalapeño. For entrées, skip salty braised mussels toast overwhelmed by chorizo in favor of the ocean trout with a lovely crispy seasoned skin. Look for sophisticated pastries from Thessa Diadem (Here’s Looking At You) like a fine apple crumb pie with frangipane or a bay leaf cream concha. The select wine list offers compelling, fun options like a sparkling rosé pét-nat from Loire, Greek and Sicilian whites, and natural wines from small producers. Cocktails are likewise playful, but complex, featuring a Negroni float and whiskey sarsaparilla slushie.
