THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ama Restaurant Review:

The space is small, but the flavors at this Italian eatery are commanding. Chef Turibio Girardi’s menu is inspired by his native Apulia (the heel of the boot). Though some of the menu offers standard Italian fare, such as buffalo mozzarella with tomato and basil, and homemade pasta with Sunday ragù, the Southern region’s influences can be seen in such dishes as zuppa di pesce barese---assorted shellfish in a light tomato broth. The interiors are meant to evoke the South, as well, with a stone, taupe, white and caramel palette. The furnishings are spare, yet attractive, and the space’s casual feel attracts a convivial crowd. The well-varied, all-Italian wine list helps add to the festive ambience.
