Carmel, a Tel Aviv inspired restaurant, took over the former Village Idiot space on Melrose Avenue. Using a wood-burning oven and an open flame grill, chef Asaf Maoz draws on his Syrian and Italian heritage and offers dishes such as whole grilled spotted shrimp with grape leaves and frisée.
