| This East Village spot with a focus on Vietnamese sandwiches (or banh mi) has two tables, three window-side stools and a lot of charm. The sandwiches come in classic (pork and pâté), chicken, sardines, and vegetarian versions. The crunchy, flaky bread helps make Banh Mi Zon one of the better shops serving this Southeast Asian street staple. The owners, a couple from Quy Ngon on the central coast, also serve up a mean, hearty beef stew and salads overflowing with mango and papaya. Cash only. |
