Beet Restaurant Review

: In a neighborhood that already boasts several above-average Thai-esque eateries, this Park Slope restaurant has a tall order to fill. Echoing the restaurant's name, the bright red and purple color scheme is sleek, and nicely contrasted with the vibrant hues on the walls and ceiling, save for the not-too-comfortable IKEA-like white chairs and tables. But in such a chic atmosphere, the food pales in comparison. From the share menu (appetizers), the fresh salad roll (rice paper-wrapped basil, lettuce, mint leaves, cucumber, carrot and vermicelli noodles served with a vinaigrette and peanut sauce) is limp and lacks flavor. The entrée menu offers some improvement with the teriyaki pork loin with mixed Asian greens. The menu is a mix of Thai standards but a few French-Thai fusion items give it sparkle---at least on paper.
