This outpost of the Midtown Ben & Jack's boasts all the trappings of a traditional steakhouse: a long list of classic cocktails, an even longer list of wines that span the globe (including a lot of robust red-meat-pairing varieties), and, of course, plenty of hearty offerings from the kitchen. The menu doesn’t mess around, listing in straightforward fashion the cuts of meat along with typical sides (great creamed spinach, oversize onion rings). The thick filet mignon was properly cooked while the dinosaur-size sirloin could feed three people. For the non-steak lover, there’s also a boatload of seafood on offer, including grilled tuna and large Maryland crab cakes. The low-ceilinged, dark-wood atmosphere feels a tad oppressive but that isn’t anything a couple of strong martinis and a steak can’t cure.
