This intimate doll house in Carnegie Hill has a cash-only, pre-theater menu before 7 p.m. that's an excellent value. Later, with the lights down low, credit cards purring and well-made standard bistro fare in place, it is a romantic post-theater spot. For starters, opt for the cassolette d'escargots with garlic-and-parsley butter. For an entrée, try such crowd-pleasers as sautéed calf’s liver in a sweet-and-sour sauce with mashed potatoes and string beans or the organic duck breast in black currant sauce with artichoke heart and sweet potato purée. For a finale: a sinful crème caramel.
