| The brothers Bromberg---Blue Ribbon, Blue Ribbon Sushi---have done it again with yet another hip restaurant that manages to lure everyone from Julian Lennon to French winemakers. Upstairs, from a perch at one of the jammed-together tables, stare out at the active West Village street traffic. Downstairs, adjacent to the cozy bistro dining room is a cavernous century-old wood-fired oven that turns out heavenly bread from onion-kissed rye to olive focaccia as well as grilled meats, vegetables and fish. But the real joy of Blue Ribbon is its wine bar, where you can order tastes in small, medium and large. Choose a medley to go with a multi-course meal featuring the likes of fried chicken, house-cured, marinated or smoked fish, sweetbreads, and garlic shrimp and chorizo. Though one can have a quick bite here; Blue Ribbon is best for lingering. |
