CaCao Mexicatessen Restaurant Review: This three-meal-a-day eatery in Eagle Rock, with its backdrop of warm terra cotta colors and lucha libre wrestling memorabilia, offers an eat-in or take-out dining experience, as well as signature hot chocolate with a hint of chile. Breakfast burritos and omelets are good ways to begin the day, while later on, tacos---some with unexpected ingredients like huitlacoche or squash blossoms---are offered, as well as Yucatán-style cochinita pibil. The fish tacos and fries bathed in mole are worth checking out, too, and the vegetarian fare is quite enticing, even if you don’t normally roll that way. Despite being a quick-service eatery, CaCao has a more compelling menu than most Mexican restaurants in L.A. On your way out, visit the family’s flower shop next door.
