Cafe Americano Restaurant Review:

Cafe Americano, a sleek, European-esque space on Lexington Avenue from the Martignetti brothers (The East Pole, Pizza Beach), has a long bar and a cheerful painting of tennis players. The place is welcoming all day long. For breakfast, perch beside the serious espresso machine, sip a cappuccino or a fresh green juice and dig into a Black Sheep Farms yogurt with berries and honeycomb. For lunch, the panini are generously buttered and simply satisfying; you can’t go wrong with zucchini and Fontina or prosciutto and peaches. Afternoon is the perfect time for sampling a spritz --- choose from Cynar, pink grapefruit and elderflower. Or stick to a classic Negroni. The grass-fed double cheeseburger with goat cheese would hit the spot if it wasn’t so dry, but Maplebrook Farms burrata with grilled bread and poached Mission figs is a lesson on why uncomplicated dishes are so often the best. Fluffy lemon ricotta cake and dense banana bread double as desserts and anytime snacks.
