Cafe Luluc Restaurant Review: With a pressed-tin ceiling and plenty of mirrors, this casual Carroll Gardens bistro is a homey place to enjoy accessible French fare. Escargots---garlicky and buttery, as it should be---come in the shell, while the chunky crab cake is topped with a swipe of creamy avocado. Sandwiches are heartily prepared---the Philly cheesesteak, for example, is crammed with large chunks of Angus beef and dripping with cheese. Lovers of standard bistro fare can’t go wrong with the coq au vin, but the grilled pork chop, simmering in a sweet potato purée, threatens to steal the show. Racks filled with magazines encourage lingering. |
