THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Veneto Restaurant Review:
Next door to his acclaimed Locanda Veneta, restaurateur Jean-Louis De Mori has created this casual, more attractively priced eatery specializing in tapas-like small plates called cicchetti (a term indigenous to Venice). The warm, candlelit room is inviting, with a prominent marble-topped bar, sturdy wooden tables, and wine racks lining the butter and chocolate walls. The long list of cicchetti includes tuna tartare, Italian cheese and charcuterie plates, duck confit, fried calamari, beef carpaccio and a delicious miniature osso buco. Rustic, irregularly shaped thin-crusted pizzas are excellent, and a chocolate pizza for dessert is surprisingly delicious. De Mori has unveiled an impressive organic wine list featuring bottles from California, Italy and France.
