: Comfortably elegant, yet with a rustic feel that evokes the Italian countryside, chef-owner Mark Strausman’s restaurant continues to thrive as a top-notch Italian eatery. Sunday dinners can be relaxed and leisurely, while on other nights a scene of New York movers and shakers predominates. No matter the vibe, the classic antipasti table tempts with grilled and marinated vegetables, cured meats, salads and cheeses. Homemade pastas strike an appealing balance between comfort food and haute cuisine, and Strausman often serves homey dishes like sausages with peppers and onions or lasagna in addition to his more ambitious offerings. We recommend the thick, double-cut veal chop interestingly adorned with a cassis sauce. There is an extensive Italian and American wine list.
