THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Carmine Club Cafe Restaurant Review:
The team of restaurateur Noel Cruz (Elettaria, Craftbar) and chef Joe Vigorito (Lupa) have opened this Mediterranean-leaning spot in the West Village. There are salads and sandwiches during the day (the soft chicken liver on raisin bread is topnotch) which give way to more sophisticated fare for dinner, including nicely executed sweetbreads (intriguingly served with pomegranate and pepitas), pan-seared duck breast matched with a turnip purée, and a subtle but juicy roasted chicken. The small handful of pasta dishes includes a luscious oxtail ragù cavatelli and a more Spartan pecorino-dusted spaghetti with guanciale. The wine list spans the globe with some good (but not terribly affordable) selections by the glass.
