| Housed in a landmark 1863 factory building within walking distance of the real City Hall, this TriBeCa restaurant is something of a steakhouse with good American food. To stimulate conviviality, it has a big, bustling bar where oversize martinis are served alongside addictive homemade potato chips. Order from the raw bar and then move on to the main event. There are roasts large enough for six people, in addition to oysters Rockefeller, she-crab soup, time-honored hashes, steak tartare, hefty chops and shellfish. City Hall is destined to be a classic, thanks to chef-owner Henry Meer, whose Cub Room on Prince Street is also a winner. |
