| This spot on the Clinton Street restaurant row crafts briny jewels---scallops ringed by prosciutto, slices of mackerel atop pieces of pomelo, hamachi topped with ponzu. The kitchen imparts international accents with unusual ingredients like huacatay mint (it grows in the Amazon), Austrian pumpkin seed oil, and Peruvian aji panca pepper. Dishes come as tasting or sharing sizes, and you can pair them with a well-chosen list of accessible wines available by the taste, glass or bottle. A sibling to tapas spot 1492 (their gardens are connected), Crudo’s textured-plaster walls recall sand, and the tabletops are like polished driftwood---an impressionistic seaside. |
