The Delta Grill Restaurant Review: Ninth Avenue has become a Restaurant Row for the budget-conscious, and this down-home spot---with faded wood floors, zinc-topped bar open until 4 a.m., a fireplace and barn-style murals---fits right in. While the food never strays from familiar territory, there are plenty of dishes that will set off your personal smoke detector, particularly the blackened ones. The gumbos and the jambalaya, on the other hand, are rather one-dimensional. Adventurous appetites might consider the stewed alligator, which tastes like---what else?---chicken. Other popular dishes are the crawfish broil or étouffée when in season. The pecan-roasted sweet crab cakes starter is a good bet. Lowbrow charm and a charged atmosphere make this a popular after-hours post especially with the live jazz or zydeco bands playing on the weekends. |
