| Anchored on the quant Bedford and Downing intersection in the West Village, Ditch Plains is a spin-off from Marc Murphy (of Landmarc fame). The chic and smart design---dark wood paneling, high ceilings---belie the restaurant’s Long Island clam shack theme. Named after a famous Montauk surf spot, the restaurant dishes up a bevy of seafood plates (baked clams, roasted oysters, raw oysters and, of course, lobster rolls), while turf items that lean toward the comfort zone (smaller-than-normal but juicy burgers, mac ‘n’ cheese and chicken potpies) are all served in casual baskets (coffee is served in to-go cups). It’s unlikely you’ll find any shaggy surfers here taking in a post-plunge bite. But then again, they probably wouldn’t fit in here anyway. |
