| The seemingly umpteenth outpost of this upscale Mexican mini restaurant empire in Manhattan is as consistently good as the others. Located in the triangular space that once housed Vento, Dos Caminos Meatpacking offers dimly lit dining inside or great people-watching outside. This is Mexican that only New York City can produce. With attention to detail, presentation and ingredients, the fancy food items are often worth the splurge: enchiladas stuffed with Chihuahua cheese and blanketed in a green mole poblano sauce, short rib tacos laced with tamarind, and a saffron-spiced grilled chicken accompanied by golden raisins and almonds. Drinks, such as versions of the margarita spiked with mango and jalapeƱo, are equally alluring. |
