A half-block down from the buzzing Williamsburg corner of Bedford Avenue and N. Seventh Street is an oasis of culinary calm. Welcome to Ella Café, a smart-looking wood-clad BYOB serving up organic Nouveau American fare. In warm-weather months, grab a table on the back patio. The lamb brochettes, skewered with fresh red peppers, are juicy and tender while the small-portioned flat-iron steak melts in the mouth. The creamy mashed potatoes and the fresh grilled asparagus are show-stopping sides, but the dry Dijon mustard spätzle doesn’t inspire much of an encore. The menu is also loaded with creatively concocted salads and sandwiches.
