THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Elsewhere Restaurant Review

: Steps from bustling Times Square lies Elsewhere, a vino-centric respite from the folks of Casellula Cheese & Wine Café. Filled with warm woods and with the rarest of Manhattan offerings, a garden, it's easy to cozy up to this sweet space. With a first-rate Syrah on tap (from an actual keg), choosing wines is effortless. Herbs growing in the garden are indicative of the chef's love of fresh and local cuisine. With plates meant for sharing, it's hard to resist ordering the popcorn with bacon butter. Temper the richness with vinegary pickled green beans. Find comfort in bone marrow or braised rabbit with spinach, and save room for cheese as dessert---these folks are experts. Let your server choose from the array, the provenance of which are listed with care; thoughtful garnishes accompany, like brandied cherries, roasted cipollini onions or candied kumquats. Brunch here is a lively affair, perfect for a bite before a Broadway matinee or just to escape the city lights for a garden respite.
