Located between Bar Boulud and Boulud Sud, this traditional epicerie from Daniel Boulud is the most affordable way to taste the chef's offerings. There are stand-up tables inside and, in warm weather, tables out in front. Charcuterie and cheese and various pâtés are on the menu, but it’s the sandwiches that steal the show. The banh mi is a nontraditional take on the Vietnamese sandwich: a Thai sausage sits in a super soft bun that is also overflowing with creamy pâté and cilantro and carrot slices. The chunky, avocado-laden lobster roll is a big hit and the simple ham sandwich is taken up a notch by a generous use of butter. Beer and affordable wine by the glass are available, in addition to sparkling water and sodas.
