Garage Restaurant Review: This bar-restaurant scene has giant Oldenburg-like sculptures of engine parts and mechanics' tools, but yes, also a knife, spoon and fork. There's a fireplace, a big bar, and starters like an exotic mushroom beggar’s purse made of puff pastry stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese and Paris, porcini and morel mushrooms; Asian spring rolls with curried chicken, julienned carrots and zucchini served with three homemade dipping sauces; and grilled jumbo sea scallops wrapped in apple wood smoked bacon and served with homemade apricot and horseradish chutney. Main dishes include port-braised beef short ribs paired with roasted chestnut and garlic mashed potatoes and pan-seared Brussels sprouts; a house-aged filet mignon, flame grilled and topped with imported Roquefort cheese, served with a homemade crispy potato cake and grilled mixed vegetables; and pumpkin ravioli in a sage, butter and chicken reduction tossed with pine nuts and presented with a side of pumpkin spiced purée. You’ll also find lots of beers on tap, and on weekends, live jazz. |
