A sparse dining room with almost no décor is not reflective of what ends up on the plate at this popular east Williamsburg restaurant. With a thoughtful and diverse wine list, you're sure to find a few gems from under-the-radar wineries. It's wise to also begin with a cocktail. The “Go Figure,” with rum, Averna, port, fig jam and allspice, is precisely seasonal. Though the menu changes often, the whiskey bread is where everyone starts; the warm bread is served alongside cultured Vermont butter. House-made tofu is always a favorite, even with carnivores. Lamb and duck are also treated reverently, in various forms, for entrées. Dessert is a deconstructed, playful surprise --- they are listed as a single ingredient and arrive in various forms and with different textures, with sweet and savory sauces and crisps.
