 Though billed as a gastropub, this high-ceilinged eatery boasts all the familiar trappings of an American sports bar: ubiquitous TVs and lots of fried items on the menu. The loud space is frequented by neighborhood office workers, tourist spillover from Times Square, and commuters waiting to catch their train at Penn Station. But there is some goodness to be found here. A decent Gorgonzola-topped Black Angus burger, hearty lamb shank stew, and Guinness-laced baby-back ribs are menu standouts. The beer selection, surprisingly, is run of the mill, with the typical British, Irish and American varieties on tap.
