| In the wilds of SoHo, you’ll find stylishly casual Hundred Acres. Wide Japanese-styled lanterns shine softly on marble-top tables in the club-like front dining room with its dark wood paneling and white subway tiled back-splash behind the bar. The cozy back area of the eatery has atrium seating for diners who want to sit al fresco without being at the mercy of the weather gods. With a friendly, attentive staff and some potent cocktails---the chipotle gimlet is highly recommended---the relaxed ambience works quickly to put you in a good mood. Note that the menu changes frequently based on the availability of fresh market ingredients. Good appetizers include an apple-kissed sweet potato soup and pecorino-dusted kale. Try the sesame-encrusted crispy fluke or the Dijon-marinated pork chop steak (with roasted sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts). The friendly vibe leaves us feeling mellow and full---though still able to devour the moist chocolate ganache cake with homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream. |
