| Java's exotic, reasonably priced fare and homey atmosphere make it a popular spot after a quiet afternoon strolling---or more likely, rollerblading---through Prospect Park. Two can easily share the rijsttafel (literally rice table or smörgasbord) featuring 16 samples of Indonesian dishes that blend Indian and Thai. From the menu try the lumpia, a Java special---homemade egg rolls stuffed with ground beef and mixed vegetables; bakso tahu, a thin rice noodle soup with bean curd, vegetables, celery, scallion and a choice of fish balls or beef balls; or nasi goring, Indonesian fried rice with a choice of beef, chicken or shrimp. |
