John Dory Oyster Bar Restaurant is one of our 2012
| Top 10 NY Seafood Restaurants
|
John Dory Oyster Bar is the second incarnation of the seafood-focused venture from restaurateur Ken Friedman and chef April Bloomfield, who run The Spotted Pig and The Breslin Bar & Dining Room (also located in the hip Ace Hotel). The room is done up in a light, airy brasserie style, with high tables, bright blue and green bar stools, and tiled walls. Start with East and West Coast oysters or razor clam ceviche from the raw bar before diving into small plates such as Spanish mackerel escabeche and a roasted pork sandwich with red onions and tuna mayonnaise. Finish up with the chocolate pot de crème with whiskey cream and oat cookie. Imbibers can choose from local beers on draft, about a dozen wines by the glass, and cocktails created by Sasha Petraske of Milk & Honey. The John Dory has quite a night scene so expect big crowds.
