John Dory Oyster Bar, New York, NY

John Dory Oyster Bar Restaurant Review

: John Dory Oyster Bar is the second incarnation of the seafood-focused venture from restaurateur Ken Friedman and chef April Bloomfield, who run The Spotted Pig and The Breslin Bar & Dining Room (also located in the hip Ace Hotel). The room is done up in a light, airy brasserie style, with high tables, bright blue and green bar stools, and tiled walls. Start with East and West Coast oysters or razor clam ceviche from the raw bar before diving into small plates such as chorizo stuffed squid with smoked tomato or a roasted pork sandwich with tuna mayonnaise. Finish up with sticky toffee pudding. Imbibers can choose from local beers on draft, about a dozen wines by the glass, and cocktails. The John Dory has quite a night scene so expect big crowds.
