THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kate's Joint Restaurant Review

: This veggie haven specializes in surprisingly tasty meat substitutions, like “unturkey” soup, sesame not wings, and mock calamari. True, the Southern fried not steak served with yams mashed potato, gravy and veg-o-day won't fool a genuine carnivore, and the “Mckate” with two un-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, dairy or non-dairy cheese, pickles, onions on a whole-wheat sesame seed bun isn’t quite a Whopper. But that shouldn’t keep you from eating them. Don't overlook more traditional vegetarian fare, either, like whole-wheat pizzas and decadent vegan desserts like banana tiramisu. The diner doubles as a juice, beer and wine bar that stays open until 1 a.m.
