THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ladino Tapas Bar & Grill Restaurant Review:
Kosher tapas? You bet. The setting at this Hell's Kitchen restaurant exudes Latin American and Spanish charm with its copper ceiling and deep red and rich brown tones, while live music on select evenings provides a sultry backdrop. Tapas highlight classic Portuguese and Spanish selections, such as buñuelos de bacalao, fried crispy cod fritters; and bravas, cubed fried potatoes with spicy mayonnaise. These standards are juxtaposed with inventive combinations like the “paella de Hawaiian pescado” with black sea bass and mero sea bass, and saffron rice, peas, peppers and asparagus; and the Japanese tuna with grilled vegetables. What sets Ladino apart from the scores of tapas restaurants in New York City is the fact that it is certified kosher. The wine list features Spanish, Portuguese, French, Californian and Latin American varietals, as well as a Chardonnay from Israel. Desserts range from churros with peach sauce to coconut flan with caramel.
