THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Lan Cafe Restaurant Review

: The East Village might be loaded with budget-priced eateries, but this quiet café offers healthy vegetarian options and friendly, family-run service to boot. The simple dishes are packed with fresh ingredients and the pho---vegetarian broth with rice noodles, “tofu meatballs," bean sprouts, basil and cilantro---is just as addictive as the classic carnivorous version. Stewed eggplant with caramel and black pepper sauce is both sweet and spicy, and the curry tofu and potato soup is more of a hearty stew. The crunchy baguette sandwiches with vegetarian versions of ham, sausage and meatballs and heaping with carrots, cucumber and cilantro are popular at lunchtime.
