This sophisticated East Village space in a former lighting factory features New American cuisine with a French interpretation. The brushed metal bar and Deco-esque industrial lighting give a nod to its hip location, while red and terra cotta walls exhibit the work of local artists. The menu offers some creative influences on American favorites, such as crab-avocado fritters---crispy on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside. Tuna confit presents another stunning option. Served over sautéed mushrooms, it balances unique flavors with the texture of pâté. Main courses include roasted chicken with delicate seasonings and crispy polenta fries; and a grilled rib-eye, tender and flavorful, presented with pommes frites and sautéed spinach. The wine list offers a decent selection of affordable options, several available by the glass. Of note on the dessert menu are ice cream flavors like coffee-hazelnut, mascarpone and malt.
