THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Limoncello Restaurant Review:
This very civilized restaurant, with its fin-de-siècle wall murals, modern Italian light fixtures and windows overlooking Seventh Avenue, soothes with its attentive service and updated versions of Italian classics. Start with first courses of carpaccio of beef with shaved mushroom and arugula salad or the raw seafood platter of oysters, clams, Maine lobster and shrimp. Theres a refreshingly light risotto with fresh crab meat artichokes. Entrées on the seasonally-changing menu might include polenta-crusted salmon served with red cabbage and ginger in a sherry vinegar, duckling with wild rice, poached pears, honey and saffron or sautéed New York strip sirloin with celery-root purée. Dessert are fine; follow with a glass of homemade limoncello (lemon) liqueur, then descend to the Grotto Bar for a cigar.
