| Lomzynianka is a tiny, twelve-table eatery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn that’s helmed by Darek in the front room and Janina in the kitchen. The impossible-to-pronounce name is the only thing that’s hard to wrap your head around here. The menu, which is affordable enough to make you think you’re actually in Poland, is loaded with hearty classics: rich beef goulash, huge cabbages stuffed with rice and pork, greasy but good kielbasa. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Polish restaurant if pierogi weren’t on the menu. Diners can choose between cheese, sauerkraut and mushroom, and meat, all of which explode with flavor on the first bite. One warning about this BYOB eatery: they close at 9 p.m. nightly, so come early and hungry. |
