Curry-Ya Restaurant Review:
This pint-size Japanese eatery is little more than a counter with a dozen stools. Nurse a Japanese beer or a glass of saké and watch the cooks work the burners. The menu here focuses on, as the name suggests, curry, which comes thick like gravy. There are plenty of meats to supplement it: shrimp, breaded pork cutlet and chicken, and vegetables too. The restaurant also serves up a few yoshoku dishes---Westernized Japanese food that has its roots in 1850s Japan. The hamburger stew---a beef patty topped with shredded cheddar and smothered in a rich gravy---is as comforting as it is good. Cash only.
