Mint Restaurant Review: Mint is not just a frequently used herb in Indian cuisine. It’s also a decent Indian restaurant in Midtown. The space is painted in hues of green and yellow, and accented with fuchsia drum lamps; the waterfall adds a soothing touch. Owner-chef Gary Sikka offers traditional North Indian cuisine, a fare marinated lavishly in yogurt, spices, garlic and herbs. What is remarkable about the menu is the unconventional play of seafood with Indian spices, like in the crab tikka cakes, lobster masala, and moist smoked salmon kebabs. The highlight is the tandoor oven that grills a sophisticatedly flavored barbecue---the tender lamb chops with mint jelly are first-rate. |
