MXco Restaurant is one of GAYOT's 2013
| Top 10 NY Mexican Restaurants

MXco Restaurant Review: MXco is a margarita showcase for Upper East Side twenty- and thirty-somethings. Two lively areas are offered for dining: high-top tables sitting alongside a long, busy bar and patrons drinking enormous house margaritas, and a separate colorful dining room in the space once occupied by Googie’s diner. The menu tempts with a nice variety of appetizers, with twists on customary quesadillas and new favorites like queso flameado served three ways. Sweet corn on the cob slathered with Parmesan and chilies has a bit of an edge as does the tuna tostadita with passion fruit emulsion. Tacos are prominently featured with nine choices including the unusual coca-cola carnitas topped with avocado mousse. Entrées cover the bases from chicken enchiladas to seared ancho chile-crusted tuna. A slice of tres leches cake and a flight of añejos and reposados from MXco’s large menu of tequilas is the perfect dessert combination. |
